Matilda Joslyn Gage: Lost Suffragist and Oz

One of the most prominent Women’s Rights leaders was also the mother-in-law of L. Frank Baum, author of the classic book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” Author, abolitionist, suffragist, lecturer, and activist, Matilda Joslyn Gage was a force. This presentation explores her achievements and how her influence can be found in Baum’s writing, especially in the brave, independent, and outspoken character named Dorothy Gale.
