Words of a Feather: Poetry and Birding Hike

Date and Time: September 4, 2021, 9:30 AM CT

Location: Chisholm Trail Park Trail, 300 E 27th St, North Newton
(view on google maps)

Join us for a beginner-friendly bird and poetry walk oriented to connecting with the more-than-human world. Guided by the words of poets and our own senses, this humanities hike through a natural bird habitat will spark a discussion about fostering relationships of care and mutuality. The program will share tips for those new to birding and offer new possibilities for engaging with and within our common home. (Note: This is an outdoor event; participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, including hats, sunscreen, and bug spray, and to bring their own water.) Presented by Megan Kaminski and Molly Zahn.

Megan Kaminski is a poet and teaches poetry and environmental humanities and arts at the University of Kansas. Molly Zahn teaches religious studies at KU and leads guided bird walks in her spare time.
