Gourd Dance: Indians of Wichita and the Vietnam War - Exhibit Opening

The public is invited to a special exhibit opening. Native Americans serve the United States armed forces in greater numbers per capita than any other ethnic group. Learn about the Warrior Society and the Gourd Dance, a special ceremony to honor returning warriors. During the Vietnam War era, this tradition saw a revitalization.

The event will feature a panel discussion with local veterans.

This event is part of "Kansas Stories of the Vietnam War," a statewide oral history project to commemorates 50 years since the escalation of US involvement in the Vietnam War.
