Sunflower Journeys - History Lessons

"Sunflower Journeys" is a documentary television series that airs on KTWU Public Television, Topeka.

We visit historic Ward Meade Park in Topeka to learn about the history of Ward Meade Mansion, Old Prairie Town and the nationally known botanical garden. Then, host Chris Hernandez is joined in our studio by first-time author Chuck Warner of Lawrence, to talk about his book Birds, Bones, and Beetles: The Improbable Career and Remarkable Legacy of University of Kansas Naturalist Charles D. Bunker. Finally, we look back at the Bloody Benders, the murderous family from Cherryvale, and the reenactments filmed at historic Ward Meade Park in Topeka.
