Interpretations of the Past by Those Living in the Present - Public Presentation

Learn about recently-discovered archival documents that explore the complex relationship between missionaries and local Indigenous tribes. Includes an 1859 land grant, signed by President James Buchanan, awarding 320 acres to the Presbyterian Foreign Missions which later became Highland Community College.

The newly-preserved land grant document will be ceremonially presented to the leadership of Highland Community College and Ioway Tribe of Kansas & Nebraska.
