The Lansing Correctional Facility in Leavenworth County has developed a symbiotic relationship with the communities of Lansing, Kansas. Built in 1864, the correctional facility grounds are also home to the Lansing Historical Museum as well as the Lansing Fire Department, which is one way the correctional facility has established connections between the diverse stories of the community.
