The Color Line: Faces from North Wichita - Exhibition

Date and Time: January 25, 2019

Location: Kansas African American Museum, 601 N Water St, Wichita
(view on google maps)

Explore neighborhood stratification as defined by labor, migration, and racialized identities in North Wichita's most iconic neighborhoods. Exhibit features photo portraits, audio, and video interviews with North Wichita residents. This material was gathered as part of door-to-door engagement campaign and used recently to inspire a massive mural painted on the Beachner Grain Elevator, one of the largest murals in North America.

This exhibition is part of "Horizontes," a community mural project and public programs to unite two historic Wichita neighborhoods divided by an industrial corridor since the 1950s.

Sponsored by: The Seed House - Casa de la Semilla
