Fantasy novel that recounts an extraordinary story of love, loss, and hope - providing a vivid exploration of a child's grief and struggle in the midst of terrible emotional turmoil. The "monster" in the story teaches the child (Conner) about himself, using stories to help Conner come to terms with his challenges.

Event is part of "Resilience Through Story," public programs at MidAmerica Nazarene University and the Olathe Public Library exploring how stories allow humans to cope with adverse life events.
