Sarah Smarsh's Heartland: A Community Read - Panel Discussion

Panel discussion examines how the themes of Sarah Smarsh's 2018 memoir, "Heartland: Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth," relate to Lyon County. Smarsh is a Kansas native and journalist that reports on socioeconomic class, politics, and public policy. Her memoir is a finalist for the National Book Award.

Panelists include Max McCoy, Kansas author; Sarah Johnson, librarian at Emporia State University; Marc McDonald, Pastor at St Andrew's Episcopal Church; Any Scheller, nursing instructor at Flint Hills Technical College; and Joelle Spotswood, creative writing instructor at Emporia State University.

This event is part of a "Sarah Smarsh's Heartland: A Community Read."
