Moment by Moment: Family History Writing Workshop

Date and Time: October 30, 2020, 6:00 PM CT

Location: Maner Conference Center, 1717 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka
(view on google maps)

Presented by Kim Stanley

Family history tells us who we are and where we come from. But genealogical records sometimes lack the personal details that communicate just how interesting families can be. In this workshop, participants are encouraged to take their research and turn it into story form. Capture family lore that has been passed down for generations, describe that uncle that showed up at Thanksgiving, or recount grandma's cooking. Travel to the places your family lived and write about what they saw. The workshop includes writing exercises to create characters and indentify compelling topics. Adding stories to genealogy can make family history move vivid and more likely to be read by future generations.
